Exeter is facing a housing crisis. For many years the number of new homes delivered in the city has failed to keep up with the growing need of its people for somewhere to live.

The population of the city has grown considerably in recent years, from 111,000 in 2001 to 127,000 in 2016.

It has been reliably estimated that the population will be 131,000 by 2021, before increasing to closer to 150,000 by the year 2036.

All this growth means that new homes, both for sale on the open market and for affordable housing, are urgently needed.

This website explains why we are bringing land at Clyst Road, Topsham, forward with proposals for up to 155 new homes - more than a third of them affordable - and a new 64-bed residential care home.
